Byron Ellington is the late husband of June Ellington. He was an infamous con man and career criminal, and incarcerated for some time, like Neal Caffrey.
In "Pilot", we learn from June that Byron had great taste in clothes and wore luxury suits and hats. One night, he won a Devore suit from Sy Devore himself in a game of poker.
In "Vital Signs", June mentions Byron enjoyed parks for the scenery and fresh air.
In "Countermeasures", Neal meets one of Byron's old partners and friend, "Ford", which Neal assumes is a nickname. Throughout the episode, we also learn that Byron had a record collection and he owned a '64 Corvette convertible, which was his first new car. At some point, Byron stole and hid a printing plate for the 1991 U.S. $100 bill in his study to protect Ford, not for personal use.
Several times throughout the series, June reminisces about dancing with Byron.
