Amy Harris is the former Executive Assistant of Harold Grant, CEO of Atlas Technologies. She was born in Iowa but she fell in love with the city of New York, where she worked as Grant's Executive Assistant for six years.

In "Uncontrolled Variables", Amy meets Neal Caffrey, posing as a chef, at a farmer's market. When she's hit on by Matthew Keller, Neal pretends to be her boyfriend to "scare" Keller away, giving Neal the perfect in to ask Amy out to dinner, which she agrees.

Before their dinner date, Neal shows up at her office, surprising her with lunch, but Amy notices Keller dressed as a security guard coming out from the vault area. She opens the vault to double-check that nothing is missing, which allows Mozzie the opportunity to slip in unnoticed when Amy turns her back.

Due to an issue with the Exodus file that Mozzie stole out of the vault, Neal has to use Amy again to put the file back into the vault, so he invites her to his apartment for dinner. During the night, Amy asks Neal to show her the proper technique to cutting leeks and just as they were about to kiss, they are interrupted by June Ellington, but only for a moment before June suddenly takes her leave after setting up a breakfast date with Amy. With the absence of June, Amy kisses Neal but they are interrupted again when Grant calls Amy and tells her that the Exodus file is missing, and Amy tells Neal that she's going to get fired.

After Neal takes Amy home, Amy finds Keller in her house and she tries to call the police but she's overpowered by him. Before Keller could kill her, Neal shows up and Keller blows his cover, telling Amy that Neal is con man. When Keller still wants to kill Amy, Neal offers another option: for Amy to act like she stole it, exposing a major security flaw in her boss' company so that she would get the promotion she deserves. But instead of following through with the promotion, Amy quits, slaps Neal, and returns to Iowa, deciding that she doesn't belong in New York.
