Amanda Callaway is a "highly ambitious and pragmatic" former Assistant-Special-Agent-in-Charge assigned to the FBI New York White Collar Division after transferring from the Atlanta White Collar Division.
Callaway is put in charge after the forced retirement of Reese Hughes. She likes above-board results, quick high-profile wins, and describes herself as taking an involved approach with her agents. Immediately upon her transfer, Callaway announced that her goal was to make the New York White Collar division "the pride of the Bureau again".
In "The Original", Callaway is seen calling Senator Terrence Pratt, alerting him about an evidence box that Peter Burke, Neal Caffrey, and James Bennett may have found in the Empire State Building. However, she also informs Peter that she doesn't want the evidence box to go to Pratt or Bennett, and would rather the box be given to the FBI first. And though she orders her team to arrest Neal and James on sight during the search, Callaway also commands Pratt to stay where he was instead of joining the search for the evidence box.
In "At What Price", Section Chief Bruce offered the Assistant Special Agent in Charge position to Peter, indicating that Callaway was no longer in charge of the team.
